Orders of Merit Update

The European Tour has "The Race to Dubai" and we at Glynhir have our "Race to Glory" where the two most consistent golfers in this summer's qualifying competitions will win the Gross and Nett orders of merit respectively. This will allow the winners to bask in the adulation of their fellow members and win a modest trophy. As many multi millionaire golfers have said "golf is not all about winning millions"!!

With 13 events already completed and 4 left culminating with the medal on October 4th the current lists published in How Did I Do show that things are pretty tight at the top.

Gross Order of Merit

Here about 20 players are mathematically able to beat the current leader, Eric Page, to win the title. A strong end to the season could yet secure victory for many of these contenders particularly if others fade.

Nett Order of Merit

Long time leader Andrew Richards can theoretically still be caught by over 50 people! For some this would require 3 outright wins with Andrew failing to score but for others one win and a couple of top ten places could see him overhauled. As you can see from the featured picture Andrew is working hard to ensure you don't catch him. Can you do it?

To Contenders in the Gross are:

  1. Eric Page 54 points
  2. Mark Jones 45 points
  3. Dylan Howells 42 points
  4. Andrew Richards 40 points
  5. Mark Howells 35 points
  6. Owen Rees 34 points
  7. Eric Francis 31 points
  8. Aled Griffiths 31 points
  9. Matthew Jones 28 points
  10. Nigel Lloyd 23 points

Top contenders in the Nett are:

  • Andrew Richards 36 points
  • Mark Jones 23 points
  • Tim Hendra 22 points
  • Mark howells 19 points
  • Clive Jones 18 points
  • Spud Warren 17 points
  • David James 16 points
  • Chris Jones 16 points
  • Duncan Andrews 15 points
  • Aled Griffiths 15 points
  • Stephen Francis 15 points
  • "Ralph" 15 points
  • Captain Wayne 15 points
  • Ian Rees 15 points
